Water Resistant Navigation Equipment Enclosures

Mainline Services manufacture to order a range of water-resistant enclosures for use in exposed or harsh marine conditions. The typical construction is from non-ferrous materials.

Illustrated above is the standard pattern enclosure for use in a seismic survey tailbuoy system. The enclosure is constructed from 6mm aluminium plate and is welded on all sides. This ensures strength of the unit and eliminates the risk of water ingress. The lid is produced from the same quality aluminium, The quick release locking mechanism on the lid allows instant access to the cabinets contents without the use of tools, reducing both time in the deployment, and the risk of over-tightening and stripping of standard fasteners that are often used in conventional cabinets.

The quick release system also doubles as carrying handles, allowing the cabinet to be conveniently handled. The lid also contains 6 Stainless Steel grade 316 universal glands for almost instantaneous connections of pre-molded cable assemblies without having to solder joints.

The gland assembly accommodates standard co-axial cable and can be obtained as a seperate item.

The integrity of the cabinet is maintained by the use of a single "O" ring that is housed in the upper frame (illustrated below). This provides a simple and effective seal and also allows for a speedy and economical service of the unit.

The cabinet contains an instrument clamping facility within the enclosure and comes complete with a tailbuoy mounting bracket allowing easy installation. Each cabinet is Pressure tested to 2bar to ensure consistency and reliability, eliminating expensive loss of electronic equipment.
